Survival Mode vs Living
Blog Series Becoming Her — Part 7 -Thriving, Not Just Surviving
The Shift from Just Getting Through to Actually Feeling Your Life
There’s a version of you that knows how to survive.
She’s strong.
She’s resilient.
She’s the one who figured out how to keep going no matter what.
She learned how to function while exhausted.
How to smile while struggling.
How to hold it all together when everything inside felt like it was falling apart.
And for a long time
that version of you was necessary.
She protected you.
But she was never meant to be who you stayed as.
What Survival Mode Really Feels Like
Survival mode isn’t always obvious.
It doesn’t always look like chaos from the outside.
Sometimes it looks like being “high functioning”
getting things done, showing up, keeping up appearances.
But inside?
It feels like:
Always being on edge
A body that can’t fully relax
Overthinking everything
Exhaustion that rest doesn’t fix
Feeling disconnected from yourself
Living in a constant state of “just get through today”
It’s your nervous system stuck in protection.
Not because you’re broken
but because, at some point, it learned it wasn’t safe to soften.
