My Life Changed When
My life changed when I sought help, began therapy, and started advocating for my health to ensure my voice was heard and taken seriously. I learned the importance of persistence and self-advocacy, realizing that my well-being deserved priority and respect. This journey of self-empowerment allowed me to reclaim control over my life, paving the way for healing and personal growth.
I discovered that seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. Therapy became a safe space where I could explore my emotions, understand my past, and develop strategies for a healthier future. Each session was a step towards unraveling the complexities of my experiences, and I emerged with a clearer sense of self.
Advocating for my health taught me resilience and the value of my own voice. I understood that no one else could speak for my needs as effectively as I could, and this realization fueled my determination to be heard. Through this advocacy, I forged a path towards recovery, setting boundaries and making choices that aligned with my well-being.
This coming May marks four years since I was assaulted, which is when my neurological issues began. I have collaborated with numerous professionals to uncover the challenges I faced and to get ACC to acknowledge the severity of my situation. Taking responsibility for my healing meant acknowledging my past and understanding that it was part of my story, but not the entirety of it. I embraced the power of self-reflection, recognizing patterns that no longer served me, and actively working to transform them. This process was not always easy, but it was undeniably rewarding, as it led me to a deeper understanding of who I am and who I want to become.
As I continued to explore my needs and desires, I found the courage to set boundaries and communicate them clearly to others. This newfound clarity helped me build healthier relationships, both with myself and those around me. I learned that it was okay to say no and that my well-being was worth protecting.
Through it all, I have discovered that the most significant changes come from within. By taking responsibility for my healing and embracing my values, I have unlocked the potential for a life that is not only happy but also deeply meaningful.
