Finding Happiness
Even When the Body Crashes
There are days when my body simply gives up on me. Today was one of those days. Exhaustion hit like a wave, leaving me drained and sore. Living with medical conditions means this isn’t unusual. My body often sets limits I wish weren’t there. And yet, if you asked me whether I would change anything about this week, my answer would still be no.
Because the truth is I refuse to let life slip past me.
Choosing Moments Over Limitations
This week I had the chance to explore new places. I managed to smash out a 1.5k walk, something that once felt impossible. Along the way, I noticed the bird life up close, the stillness of nature, the reminder that even in struggle there is beauty.
And then came the sunset. Golden light across the sky, fish and chips in hand, laughter as I shared it all with my bestie. These are the moments I fight for. The moments that make the crash worth it.
The Crash Doesn’t Define the Experience
Yes, my body paid the price. Fatigue and pain set in as they often do. But the crash doesn’t erase the joy of what came before it. Too often we focus only on what our conditions take from us. I want to focus on what they can’t take the connection, the beauty, the small wins, the stubborn refusal to stop living.
Every step, every laugh, every shared memory matters. These things nourish the soul in ways that tired muscles and aching bones can’t undo.
Learning to Balance
That doesn’t mean I ignore the reality. Living with chronic illness or medical challenges means learning balance. It means honoring the body’s limits while still creating space for joy. It means planning recovery days, building in gentle rest, and allowing myself the grace to say: I did something amazing, and now I need to restore.
For me, healing isn’t just about physical recovery it’s about giving myself permission to celebrate the good even when it comes wrapped in struggle.
Worth It in the End
When I look back on this week, I won’t remember the crash as much as I’ll remember the walk, the birds, the sunset, and the laughter. I’ll remember that I chose to live. And that, for me, makes it worth it every single time.
Because even when the body struggles, the spirit still knows how to shine
