7 Days of Christmas - Chronic Illness Edition
Managing Expectations with Compassion
Christmas comes loaded with expectations.
Traditions to uphold. Roles to fill. Energy you’re assumed to have simply because it’s “that time of year.”
Then there are the expectations you place on yourself often rooted in who you used to be.
The version of you who could do more, last longer, say yes without consequence.
But your body has changed, and that deserves compassion, not punishment.
It’s okay to loosen your grip.
It’s okay to change traditions.
It’s okay to disappoint others if it means staying well.
Boundaries are not selfish they’re protective.
Reminder
You do not owe anyone access to your energy, especially when your body needs protection.
