Reflection - September

Less rushing. More living. More becoming.

September was confronting. October is about intention.

September left me with more questions than answers. It was quiet, challenging, emotionally confronting and a month that forced me to slow down in ways I hadn't necessarily planned.

There were flare-ups, quiet days navigating my body, moments of frustration and some uncomfortable realisations about relationships, connection and the reality of life with adult children.

But amongst all of that, something has been shifting.

Intentional living is becoming less of something I talk about and more of something I actually practise.

I'm noticing more. I'm questioning more. I'm becoming more aware of where my energy goes, what fills my cup, what drains me and what genuinely matters.

Having more time in my own space has opened up a different perspective. Sometimes distance gives you a view of things you couldn't see when you were constantly surrounded by them.

And while some of those realisations haven't been easy, I'm learning that I don't need to have all the answers right away.

I just need to be honest with myself.

So, what does October look like for me?

October It's continuing to build a life that feels like mine.

It's about making conscious choices rather than simply going through the motions.

Being intentional with my time and energy

I want to become more mindful about where I invest myself.

Not everything deserves my attention. Not everyone deserves unlimited access to my energy.

I'm learning that choosing where I put my time is also choosing how I want to experience my life.

Listening to my body

Living with chronic illness means my plans don't always go to plan.

Some days will be productive, others will require slowing down, resting and adjusting.

My intention isn't to push through everything. It's to understand my body better, respect its limitations and recognise that rest is part of living, not a failure to live.

Embracing my own company

Having my own space has been a learning curve.

There are beautiful moments in being alone, but there are also moments when the quiet brings emotions and realisations to the surface.

I'm learning to enjoy my own company, create experiences for myself and stop waiting for others to make life feel full.

Continuing my healing journey

October brings a new stage of therapy, including beginning EMDR.

There is still shit to unpack, understand and work through.

I'm entering this chapter with openness, courage and compassion for the woman who has carried so much.

Healing isn't about becoming someone who never struggles. It's about developing a different relationship with myself, my past and my future.

Welcoming new experiences and connections

September brought new friendships, new learning and new experiences.

I want to continue opening myself up to possibilities.

Meeting people, trying things, making memories and allowing genuine connections to develop naturally.

Not every connection needs to become something permanent. Some people enter our lives simply to remind us that there is still so much goodness out there.

Releasing expectations

This is probably one of my bigger intentions.

Learning to accept relationships for what they are, rather than what I wish they would be.

Understanding that proximity doesn't always equal connection, and being available doesn't mean being valued.

I want to spend less time questioning what others aren't doing and more time focusing on what I can create for myself.

Collecting my glimmers

The little things are becoming increasingly important.

Coffee with the door open. Birds singing. Watching the clouds move. Sunrises and sunsets. Forest walks. Beach moments. Nature. Laughter. New friendships. Time with my grandson.

These moments might seem ordinary to someone else, but they're reminders that life is happening right here, right now.

And I don't want to miss it because I'm too busy waiting for something bigger.

My October reminder

  • I don't need to have everything figured out.

  • I don't need to rush my healing, force relationships, prove my worth or constantly be doing something to feel like I'm living.

  • I can have quiet days and still be growing.

  • I can have difficult emotions and still be grateful.

  • I can be navigating health challenges and still create beautiful experiences.

  • I can be alone without being lonely, and I can want connection without compromising myself to find it.

October is about being more deliberate with how I live, how I love, how I heal and how I show up for myself.

It's not about perfection.

It's about awareness.

It's about making choices that reflect the woman I'm becoming, rather than continuing to live according to expectations that no longer fit.

September was confronting. October is intentional.

And my one word for October?

BECOMING 🌿

Because I'm not finished. I'm still learning, growing, healing, experiencing and discovering parts of myself.

And this time, I'm making sure I'm actually present for the life I'm creating.

Thriving, not just surviving.
