From Lost at Sea to Finding Myself

At one point, I felt like I was on a boat circling endlessly in the ocean, with no idea which direction I was heading. I was moving, but I wasn’t going anywhere. The uncertainty felt endless.

But over the last few weeks, something shifted. My mind has become clearer, I’ve been soul-searching, figuring out life, and embracing what feels like my quiet era.

On this healing journey, my relationship with my kids has transformed in the most beautiful ways. People doubted me, they trashed my name, they told me I’d fail but today I look at my children and see them thriving. That alone speaks louder than anything. And my grandson? He is the most handsome little blessing, a reminder that love continues to grow even after pain.

I’ve also learnt so much about myself, especially how deeply my trauma shaped me. My body is finally learning to be calm, to feel safe, and my systems are beginning their own healing. My mental health has improved with greater self-understanding. Creating healthier routines and habits has given me tools to manage the tough days with more resilience.

Even my medical conditions are becoming easier to live with as I gain knowledge and learn to work with my body instead of against it. Of course, I still have bad days. I still question myself. There are moments where loneliness feels heavy. But through it all, I don’t regret a single step of this journey.

Reflection for you

Healing isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. It’s about proving to yourself, day after day, that you are stronger than the pain that tried to break you. People may doubt you, but your growth will speak louder than their voices. If I can go from feeling lost at sea to standing firmly in my own power, so can you. Keep pushing. Keep choosing yourself. Your future is waiting.

Practical Tips That Helped Me Heal

Create Small Daily Routines

Healing can feel overwhelming, but routines bring stability. For me, it was as simple as a morning walk, journaling, or taking five minutes to breathe before the day started. Small habits build strong foundations.

Learn About Yourself

Understanding my trauma responses and mental health disorders gave me power. Instead of fighting myself, I began to work with myself. Knowledge is a tool — the more you know, the more you can take your power back.

Celebrate Every Win

Healing isn’t linear. Some days will feel heavy. But every moment of progress no matter how small matters. I learned to celebrate surviving tough days just as much as thriving ones.
