Reflections Of April
I’m not quite sure how it happened; one moment we were in April, and now I find myself here, listening to the tui and the fantails on a rather chilly and gloomy start to May. April was quite challenging for me, both mentally and emotionally. Coping with the effects of FND and the persistent flare-ups of my Ménière's, along with the constant changes in weather, didn’t make things any easier. However, in true fashion, I managed to discover the positives, focusing on the small wins and the goals I wanted to achieve. This month has been filled with adventures! I explored new places, enjoyed a lovely holiday, and embraced my inner child. I shared delightful moments building sandcastles with my grandson, baking together, and coloring. As May starts, I've been reminded of the beauty in life's simplicity and the happiness that can be found in everyday moments. Despite the challenges that April presented, I've learned to celebrate each small win, understanding that these moments of joy are what matter.
Let May be a month of renewal, an opportunity to set new intentions and embrace fresh beginnings. I've decided to dedicate this month to nurturing my well-being, allowing myself the grace to rest when needed and the courage to explore new paths. This includes prioritizing time for creativity, whether through writing, colouring in or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. It's about listening to my inner voice and honoring the needs of my mind, body, and spirit.
The adventures of May have just begun, and I am excited to see where this month leads. With each day, I strive to remain open to new experiences, cherishing the connections I make along the way and the lessons that unfold. Here's to a month of discovery, healing, and finding joy in the little things.
Insights Gained This Month
This month has been a journey of self-discovery for me. I've realized that the things I once tolerated in life are no longer acceptable, and the behaviors I previously endured from others are also no longer something I will accept. One important lesson I've learned is that living with a medical condition that is often misunderstood or invisible leads many to be quick to judge. I've discovered that medical systems often lack understanding of functional neurological disorder; instead of providing support, they tend to dismiss these issues, leaving people to navigate the challenges on their own.
Advocating for My Health
This has been one of the many reasons I advocate for my own health. I’ve learned that if you wish to truly embrace life, it’s essential to make the necessary changes. This month, I achieved my goal of creating a space for my Reiki practice. I stepped out of my comfort zone by participating in my psychic café and networking with others.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with some wonderful clients this month, assisting them on their healing journeys. Additionally, the Blooming Babes Collective is thriving nicely, and we are excited to announce our first workshop that will blend healing with art. I am gradually putting together plans for my first course, set to launch in October.
As I enter May, I am setting new intentions, goals, and opportunities.
My non-negotiables for this month include prioritizing physical movement, especially as we move into colder weather, which can take a toll on the body. I aim to dedicate more time to meditation, allowing my body to settle after a prolonged period of heightened state.
This month, my intention is to be more intentional and organized in my work.
My goals are to complete tasks for my upcoming course, prioritize self-care, and concentrate on my recovery plan.
I want to experience more good days and fewer bad days regarding my health.
I am genuinely excited about our first workshop of the year and the couple of events we have lined up!
