Navigating life with functional nerological disorder/FND
Persistent symptoms like constant headaches, blurred vision, tremors, pressure, jaw pain, hearing loss, and weakness on my right side. Over time, my condition worsened, leading to numerous hospital visits. I had to be cleared for a stroke and ruled out for a blood clot in my lung; the tests seemed endless.
I lost the ability to continue my role as a support worker, a job I loved. Driving has become a luxury, and socializing is increasingly challenging. The trauma essentially triggered a switch in my brain, causing it to malfunction. My body experienced inflammation, while my nervous systems were under stress.
Functional Neurological Disorder has been the most challenging to manage. Some days, I feel fine, whiother days are a complete struggle. There are times when I shake, moments when my vision is impaired, instances when I can’t think clearly, and days when walking becomes difficult and I have absolutely no control.
This is not made up; it's a reality I face every single day. My heart goes out to everyone living with this condition, especially those who encounter ignorance. Before making assumptions, I encourage you to educate yourself and show some compassion.
